Step into the world of watercolors with me, and learn some basics to get your started creating your own masterpieces!

Love the look of watecolors with ink lines? Always wanted to learn it? Here's your chance! After you have taken at least the basic "Introduction to Watercolors" class or have a basic understanding of working with watercolors, I can start teaching you the basics of using the line and wash technique! Learn what supplies to use, great ways to use them, and what subjects look great in this energectic technique! We will play, practice, and learn in this fun 2 hour session!

Step even further into the whimsical world of watercolors by taking the next step in my watercolor courses - "Intermdiate Watercolors". You will learn about the importance of composition in your artwork, how to paint from real life (outside or even a still life), how to paint from a reference image, and my favorite - the technique I work in daily - how to do the 'line and wash' technique. Line and wash is the use of watercolors, along with pen and ink to give your art more energy and a more painterly feel. Once again, these are 4 private, 2-hour sessions with close, one-on-one instruction. I prefer to teach this way because it allows me the opporutnity to see your progress and learning style up-close and alter the lesson mid-way if I have to, just to make sure you are becoming the best artist you are capable of being. In this 4 hour course, Terry will introduce you to the exciting world of urban sketching! You will start out in the studio to learn about the supplies, how to use them, then do a little practice. Terry will then take you out in the neighborhood in the South Front district, and teach you how to urban sketch out in the field. Urban sketching is about capturing the energy and wonder of the scene before you; sketching from real life! You will learn about picking a focal point, composition, scale and perspective, and how to actually execute your urban sketch. You will be working in watercolors and pens, but she will go over other mediums that are great to use in the field. In this class, there will be a lot of learning and a ton of fun! Learn a new skill that you could use anytime, anywhere; a way to capture the world around you in a dynamic, little sketch!

In this 3-hour course, Terry will guide you step-by-step on how start painting some simple bodies of water in watercolor. She will teach you how to mix the colors, create movement and depth, and how to paint some simple ocean waves. You will also learn how to paint reflections in water. Previous experience in watercolor is needed for this class. This class is for ages 15 and up, and all materials are provided! Terry is known for her dramatic seascapes, so these classes will fill up quickly - check out her portfolio on this site to see some examples.
